Biography:

Terry Speiss, CA, is a Partner and Leader of MNP’s Taxation Services group in Winnipeg. With more than 25 years of income tax experience, Terry delivers innovative tax-planning strategies for private and family-owned businesses of all sizes. He works closely with his clients to provide strong advice and effective solutions on domestic and international tax issues.

Terry has worked with companies in a wide range of industries and has extensive experience advising on corporate re-organizations, almagamations and wind-ups as well as structuring tax-effective mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. He also assists clients with their GST and PST planning and negotiating income tax assessments, audits and appeals.

By understanding his client’s personal and business needs, Terry takes a proactive approach to tax management. He is adept at helping family owned businesses increase their net worth through tax minimization, including implementing estate-planning and tax minimization strategies for individuals. He also advises individuals and corporations on the structure of inbound and outbound investments to minimize the overall tax burden when investing or doing business internationally.

Terry was designated a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1986 after earning a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance (with honours)  from the University of Manitoba. He has served as Board of Governor for the Canadian Tax Foundation, lectured on  numerous tax courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and tutored for MNP team members taking the General Practitioner Tax Course.
