Biography:

Randy Swanson is Vice President of Forestry and Aboriginal Services with MNP LLP. In his role as a management and training consultant, he provides business and training support to MNP clients. This includes project management, planning and development, strategic planning, management and intergovernmental affairs.

With more than 19 years’ experience in commodity tax matters, Randy is considered exceptionally knowledgeable in this area. Randy’s clients have realized millions of dollars in refunds as a result of his efforts, independently and as a partner with MNP.

A leader in his community and his province, Randy has worked in the private, government and not-for-profit sectors. He is on the board of directors of the New Iceland Heritage Museum, and The Associates, Asper School of Business, and is Faculty Lead of the Aboriginal Leadership and Management Program at the Banff Centre for Management. He also acts as the Independent Trustee for Rolling River First Nation and Mathias Colomb Cree Nation TLE Trusts and acts as trustee for three other First Nation Investment Trusts, overseeing and administering budgets of more than $10,000,000. In April 2008 he was appointed by the Federal Government as one of ten trustees overseeing the First Nation Market Housing Fund, a $300 million trust established to facilitate private ownership of homes by First Nations people on reserve lands. He has been adopted by a Cree family in Pukatawagan, MB, is a blood brother of the Rolling River Tribe, and has been presented with the Eagle feather. He is a member of the Manitoba Métis Federation.

Randy graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Business Administration and received his Certified Aboriginal Financial Officer’s designation in 2004.
