First time win for accounting and business advisory firm

For immediate release

Monday, January 5, 2009 – Calgary, AB – The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine has honoured Meyers Norris Penny LLP (MNP) as of one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada. This national award, announced December 26, 2008, ranks Canadian organizations that have created an exemplary workplace environment. This is the first time that MNP has registered for consideration of this award, making it MNP’s first win.

“We are very proud to earn this title and receive recognition for our culture and values,” said Bob Twerdun, Vice President of Human Capital at MNP. “At MNP, our culture and values have always been important to us and integral to the way we conduct our business. They not only define who we are as an organization and as a team, but are the foundation behind the success we have all achieved.”

The 50 Best Employers in Canada are determined by three separate surveys administered by Hewitt Associates, a leading global HR outsourcing and consulting firm. The results are determined primarily through employee survey responses. Another survey determines if the firm’s goals and fundamental values are aligned with opinions of our team members and a final survey assesses the human resources policies and practices.

Twerdun said that winning this award has an even greater significance, because through the surveys, MNP team members were given an opportunity to share their positive experiences with the firm which further demonstrates that the firm remains true to our culture and values.

“It is truly an honour to be named one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada”, said Daryl Ritchie, MNP’s Chief Executive Officer. “This award is especially important as we continue to grow and expand our services and operations throughout Canada because it reminds us that throughout our evolution, we can stay true to who we are.”

Ritchie added that since 1945, the firm has grown to more than 2,200 people in 75 offices across the country.
