Monday, October 22, 2012 – Calgary, AB – MNP LLP (MNP) has been recognized as of one of the Best Employers in Canada for the fifth consecutive year. Announced by Maclean’s magazine, the award recognizes Canadian organizations that have created an exemplary workplace environment.
“It’s always an honour to receive this kind of recognition, especially five years running,” said Bob Twerdun, Senior Vice President of Human Capital at MNP. “What makes this award especially satisfying is that the survey takes into account the personal responses of every MNP team member across Canada and proves that by putting our people first, we continue to stand apart.”
Headquartered in Calgary Alberta, MNP provides chartered accounting, tax and consulting services to businesses nationally and on a global scale. The firm has over 70 offices across the country and remains focused on culture, retention and employee engagement as part of its core values. The firm is also a member of Praxity – a strategic global alliance that allows MNP to do work anywhere their clients operate.
The firm also believes that these four factors really make the difference in our employees’ lives:
- Our firm has been built on our values, work life balance, and the notion that we expect to have fun at work.
- We have a workplace culture that supports professional development. There is a strong focus on career development through in-house professional training programs, regular performance feedback and career planning discussions.
- A wide range of career paths and opportunities are available as team members have the flexibility to branch into a variety of industries and service areas.
- Strong leaders set the tone and lead by example. Employees know that promotions are based on merit, not seniority.
The Best Employers in Canada list is determined by three separate surveys administered by Aon Hewitt, a leading global HR outsourcing and consulting firm. The results are determined primarily through employee survey responses. Another survey determines if the firm’s goals and fundamental values are aligned with opinions of team members and a final survey assesses the human resources policies and practices.
“Being recognized as one of the Best Employers in Canada for a fifth year is a distinct honour”, said Daryl Ritchie, MNP’s Chief Executive Officer. “The results from this year’s survey prove that by staying true to our culture and values, we can continue to engage and motivate more than 2,800 team members from Vancouver Island to Montreal.”
“It’s particularly rewarding to know that although our firm continues to experience unparalleled growth, that we are able to maintain an unwavering commitment to our people,” added Ritchie. “It can be easy to lose that focus as a firm grows, but we have never lost sight of where we have come from and the people, both clients and team members, who have helped us get there.”
