Gillespie Farrell LLP merges with Meyers Norris Penny LLP
For immediate release
Edmonton, AB – Jan. 8, 2008 – The start of a new year is a time of opportunity and excitement. That’s certainly the case for the team at Gillespie Farrell LLP. The local accounting firm merged with Meyers Norris Penny LLP (MNP) on Jan. 2, 2008, and is now operating under the MNP name. MNP is the only Top 10 national chartered accountancy and advisory firm based in Western Canada. This is the fourth merger of an Edmonton accounting firm with MNP in the past year.
MNP Chief Executive Officer Daryl Ritchie, FCA, says the high number of mergers within a short timeframe
reflects Edmonton’s continued economic strength. “Edmonton is experiencing phenomenal growth, and
local businesses want knowledgeable advice on how to take advantage of those opportunities – and how
to best manage their growth.” Ritchie says that as a local firm, Gillespie Farrell has in-depth insight into
the Edmonton market, as well as a strong entrepreneurial client base.
Jim Gillespie, now a partner with MNP, says the merger will bring a wealth of benefits to clients. “In the
past, we specialized in providing customized tax and accounting advice. Through MNP, clients can access
management consulting, succession, human resource consulting and many other areas of expertise that
will help them maximize their growth plans and achieve their goals.”
As a result of the merger, the Gillespie Farrell team has moved to MNP’s City Centre office, located at
400, 10104 103 Avenue. In addition to Gillespie Farrell, three Edmonton firms have merged with MNP in
the past 12 months: Harris McConnan LLP in October 2007; Jervis Afanasiff & Redinger in September
2007; and Jackson Anderson LLP in January 2007. The Gillespie Farrell merger brings the number of MNP
team members in Edmonton to more than 175.
MNP provides clear, straightforward business advice combined with a local perspective on a full range of
assurance, taxation, and business advisory issues. For more information, visit mnp.ca.
