MNP has teamed up with the
Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association (LTRA) to host a fundraiser. LTRA offers therapeutic riding programs aimed at individuals with physical or emotional and behavioural disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder, Down’s syndrome, Autism, paralysis or brain injuries.
However, in November 2014, the LTRA’s riding arena roof collapsed due to heavy snow and since then, their services have come to a standstill. In order to make sure these individuals get the services they need, MNP LLP is organizing a live auction fundraiser, with proceeds going toward the construction of the LTRA’s new arena and operating costs.
On Friday, October 16, MNP invited students within the Skill and Development Program at Chinook High School and clients of the LTRA to take part in a celebration of the new arena. As part of the celebration, students worked with the horses to create numerous paintings that will be featured in our upcoming live auction. Students had the opportunity to guide the horses throughout the process, leaving behind hoof prints as well as adding their own designs to the mural. One of the horses, Harly, took it upon himself to create his own design.
Formerly called Rainbow Riding Centre, the Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association began in 1976 when a few individuals offered instruction in riding and horse care to students with various disabilities. Today, the program has grown to include numerous volunteers aiding more than 350 students each year.
As a registered charitable organization, the LTRA relies heavily on dedicated volunteers, private donations and direct community support to continue operation.
Rick Austin, Executive Director of LTRA, on behalf of the board, appreciates the support of MNP. “The money from events such as this is essential to the continued well-being of our clients,” he said.
