On behalf of our client, Lemare Group, we are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Based in Port McNeill, BC, the Lemare Group has been operating for more than 30 years in the forest management services including timber harvesting, road construction and wood brokerage.
As a key member of the leadership team reporting directly to the shareholders, the CFO will lead the development and implementation of a high-performance finance and administration function. He or she will be an effective organizational front-runner who will work closely with the leadership team in driving the organization towards achieving its strategic objectives.
The CFO will support, and foster key partnerships providing clear & concise financial information to their stakeholders while cultivating and maintaining effective strategic relationships and networks within the local communities, industry partners and their First Nation’s neighbors.
The successful candidate will work closely with shareholders to set overall organizational policies, priorities and structure with a value-adding strategic focus. He or she will be accountable for the company’s administrative, financial and risk management operations as well as oversee the transaction processing systems.
The ideal candidate will have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude who understands the best practices and processes of a large successful organization and can apply those attributes in a progressive entrepreneurial setting. You will wear multiple hats and focus on building a world class reporting environment with detailed and precise visibility into all areas of the business, from costing, production and inventory management through to acquisition integration plans and managing the banking relationships.

The Lemare Group has been operating on northern Vancouver Island and BC’s central coast for more than 30 years. They have built a team of almost 400 highly skilled forest industry experts who are driven by Lemare’s commitment to safe, responsible operations and sustainable forest management. Their business focuses on resource stewardship and forest management operations and services, including timber harvesting, road construction, and wood brokerage. Wealso contract these services to other forest companies operating on the North Island.

As part of the Management team, you will have demonstrated experience supporting and enhancing current financial strategies. You will also possess a collaborative leadership style that brings innovation to finance, has real-time information and enables the organization to make strategic decisions. A professional accounting designation CPA, with a minimum of ten years senior management experience in a multi-faceted business supporting the reporting/analysis, risk management, regulatory compliance and systems development and leadership of a growing organization are requirements of the position. Experience functioning at both strategic and operational levels, possessing a collaborative leadership style with a proven track record of implementing structured processes and controls in a dynamic and changing environment including the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear recommendations is key to this position. Previous experience in the resources industry along with a robust understanding of financial issues and opportunities affecting entrepreneurial companies that carry significant assets would be considered valuable strengths.
