Project: Enhance and develop policies across the institution

As part of its corporate-wide Business Process Improvement Initiative, and in an effort to improve its overall governance framework, Grande Prairie Regional College engaged MNP to conduct a review of select Finance and Administration policies. The project’s goal was to enhance existing policies to increase alignment with leading industry practices and to identify any areas that required new policies.

In the initial phase of the project, MNP’s team worked closely with the College to identify opportunities to streamline the Policy Development Framework, as well as enhance the policies themselves. More than 40 policies were reviewed and updated where required, including and those related to Expense Disclosure, Conflict of Interest and Information Technology.

The second phase of the project included establishing the College’s Policy Development Framework, as well as widening the scope of policies originally reviewed. MNP also worked with the College to consolidate existing policies and draft a complete set of administrative policies.

Results: At the completion of this engagement, Grande Prairie Regional College will have a complete set of policies across all key areas of the institution that align with leading practices, as well as a robust Policy Development Framework.
