When blacksmith Peter Robertson left his native Scotland in 1905 in search of a better life, a “sure thing” wasn’t in anyone’s vocabulary – especially on the southern Saskatchewan prairies. But Peter’s instinct proved as sharp as his entrepreneurial spirit - from that bold decision a century-long legacy was born, which continues to this day.

Peter founded Robertson Implements in Rush Lake as a village forge, which also purveyed in coal, wood and farming equipment. By the time his son Dan took over in the 1930s, farm equipment sales became the Robertson family’s central focus. Now headquartered in Swift Current and in its fifth generation of family ownership, Robertson Implements operates six locations across Saskatchewan and Alberta. They continue to sell top-of-the-line new and used New Holland machinery, parts and service and have expanded to add a rental store, as well as a growing motorsports and marine division. With 130 staff and a loyal customer base, they look forward to another century of growth and community service while remaining grounded in their time-tested values.

“Our success is the result of a lot of long hours, hard work and surrounding ourselves with good people,” says current owner Doug Robertson. “We are always looking for opportunities to grow the company, but never at the expense of what we already have and who we are.”
