MNP careers are Different by Design. As an entrepreneurial firm, we truly believe there are no limits to where your career can go.
MNP's Regina team is not known to shy away from supporting our community—and our up and coming young professionals are certainly stepping up in a big way. On July 12, 2018 eight of our CA articling students— Heather Hildebrandt, Kirk Bear, Marion Idun, Marina Sandberg, Kazi Tasneem, Owen Kot, Mariya Reshtar and Jayda Bieber— joined other volunteers and benefitting families at the Habitat for Humanity Regina current build project to lend a helping hand.
Habitat for Humanity Regina is a non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live and promotes homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. Habitat Regina partners with low-income families who are in need of affordable housing, able to repay a Habitat mortgage, and are willing to contribute 500 Sweat Equity hours towards the building of their home. Habitat's partner families carry a zero down payment, no-interest mortgage and the monthly payments are calculated at 25 percent of their gross income.
Owen Kot, articling student, said that he wanted to be involved with the build because he believes it is a great way to give back to the community and change of pace from everyday work. "I enjoyed working alongside the families as well my fellow colleagues, which was a great opportunity to get to know them better in an informal setting."
Habitat for Humanity Regina's current build project is Haultain Crossing, a 62-unit, townhome style, multi-phase condominium project that started in 2015. It is located in the community of Eastview. The first two phases / 24 units are complete and are occupied by Habitat families. Habitat is currently working on phase three / units 25-34, which are slated for move in by their newest Habitat families in mid November.
MNP's Heather Hildebrandt, articling student, said she was proud to join the phase three families who are hard at work completing their sweat equity hours and preparing for Habitat home ownership.
" I wanted to get involved with the build because I really like what Habitat for Humanity does for people. It's extremely rewarding to be part of something that I know will have a great impact on someone else's life."
