Meet Jody Jones, MNP’s Self Employment Program Manager

An integral member of MNP's Consulting team, Jody’s focus is on coordinating and managing the Self-Employment Program while helping entrepreneurs address business start-up challenges. Prior to starting her consulting career with MNP, Jody owned and operated a successful service business. On top of that, Jody brings 20 years of B2B sales, business development and account management experience – and the hands-on advice entrepreneurs need in a challenging marketplace.

1. Why are you passionate about helping businesses start-up?

I'm passionate about helping business start-ups because hardworking entrepreneurs make such a difference – significantly impacting our economy and people's lives. It is a privilege to be a part of a community of dedicated, ambitious individuals transforming ideas into reality.

2. What are the greatest challenges you hear from small business owners?

The greatest challenges I often hear can be translated into two frequently asked questions: Do I have a viable business idea? How do I turn my idea into a profitable business reality?

3. How can you help with those challenges?

I like to start with an open discussion to appreciate the entrepreneurs’ creative ideas and vision. I start by listening to identify their passion, motivation and why they are choosing to begin an entrepreneurial journey. I often find these discussions guide individuals to an awareness of the complex nature behind the meaning of these frequently asked questions. They come to realize the breadth of the fundamental stage of planning. I help them understand the necessity of investing their time to take deep dive into validating an idea and the subsequent stages required to turn a validated concept into a viable business reality.

4. What do you do for fun?

I've always had an adventurous side and love to explore new activities that push me out of my comfort zone. I have a joy for travel, good food and new adventures, often sharing these experiences and meaningful conversations with my family and friends. You will find me relaxing around the fire in preparation for the next day or out on the golf course most summer evenings.
