Shivana Mahabir, FCCA, CIA, CPA, CGA, CISA

Shivana is a Partner in MNP’s Enterprise Risk Services team in Toronto, specializing in internal controls over financial reporting. With more than a decade of experience, she takes a practical approach to assessing internal controls and key business processes for public and private enterprises, identifying inefficiencies and design gaps; and offering tailored solutions for business process improvement, compliance, internal controls over financial reporting, and internal audit.

Shivana works with clients across a range of industries, including the public sector (provincial, federal, Crown corporations, post-secondary institutions), gaming, oil and gas, transportation and distribution, utilities, retail, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining MNP, Shivana worked at two of the Big Four firms, in the Caribbean and in Canada.

Shivana earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Management Studies, minoring in finance, from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago. She is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) , Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Certified General Accountant (CGA), and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

Shivana also enjoys giving back to her community, most recently with the Institute of Internal Auditors Edmonton Chapter, where she was a director for eight years; and as a mentor with the Institute of Internal Auditors: Emerging Leaders Mentor Program.
