This transaction allowed the shareholders of Monarch Office Supply Inc. ("Monarch") to implement their succession strategy. It also enabled Staples Canada ULC ("Staples") to further expand its business-to-business ("B2B") portfolio, and to increase its presence in Southwestern Ontario.
Monarch is a provider of office products in Southwestern Ontario that caters to businesses of all sizes. Monarch has been servicing educational and publicly-funded organizations such as school boards, post-secondary educational institutions, and municipalities for over 65 years.
Staples is a Canadian retail sales company that has a network of over 300 stores across Canada and is owned by Sycamore Partners. Its B2B arm, Staples Professional, offers a complete assortment of products and services, including office supplies, technology products, facility solutions, furniture, and business services.
