For Lexy McLeod (she/her), success was never just about advancing her career. It was also about building a career she’s proud of, without sacrificing the life she loves.
And at MNP, that kind of balance isn’t only supported. It’s part of the Firm’s core values.
“For me, it’s Pilates, my dogs, and Friday night date nights,” Lexy shares. “And my team actually reminds me to go do these things I enjoy. They hold me to them; the same way they’d hold me to a deadline.”
Lexy’s grateful to be part of a culture where boundaries are respected, personal interests are encouraged, and people genuinely look after each other — especially when things get busy. She’s encouraged to take breaks, go on vacations, or pause when she’s pushing too hard. To stay true to MNP’s culture, she strives to do the same for her team, making work enjoyable, balanced, and fun.
Lexy’s journey to Partner at MNP hasn’t followed a straight line. After starting her career at a large accounting firm, she joined MNP with her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, eager to work alongside a mentor she admired and a culture that felt authentic.
“Even during the hiring process, I remember MNP feeling different, it was ambitious but relaxed — someone described it as ‘hot dogs and champagne.’”
Lexy briefly left MNP for an industry role but found the pace and culture unsustainable. As a Reporting Manager, she faced long days without breaks, no time for hobbies, or meaningful support. So, she came back to MNP in the same role she left. “I took a demotion, but I’d do it again. I realized the Reporting Manager title didn’t make up for what I missed most. It was the people, the support, and the environment.”
Staying true to MNP’s culture and values, Lexy’s career has blossomed from her hard work and dedication, earning her a place in MNP’s partnership. And one of the people who helped her get there? The same mentor who encouraged her to join MNP. “He’s always been in my corner. Whenever I’m trying to do too much, he calls it out and reminds me to take a breath.”
Lexy believes it’s the leadership mix of ambition and empathy that differentiates MNP. Her story is proof that success isn’t only measured by hours worked or titles earned, but by the work and fun you balance along the way.
