National Professional Services Firm, MNP, Merges with Valleyfield-Based LD CPA inc.

MNP Joins Forces with LD CPA inc., Building on Commitment to Grow the Montérégie Region

May 17, 2024, CALGARY, AB – MNP, one of Canada’s largest national professional services firms, is pleased to announce that it will join forces with the chartered professional accounting firm, LD CPA inc., effective June 1, 2024.

Based in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, LD CPA inc. is led by a group of six Partners: Karl Savary, Charles Huneault, Marie-France Bergevin, Karine Laitre, Marie Preycylla Leduc and Hugo Savary. The Partner group is supported by a team of 42 professionals. The firm provides a range of accounting, tax and advisory services to private enterprise companies throughout the region, including a large proportion of companies in the Agriculture and Food & Beverage spaces. With MNP boasting one of the largest agriculture professional service practices in Canada, this was an important factor in the decision to merge the two firms.

MNP has been steadily expanding its footprint throughout Quebec since entering the market in 2011 with its first office in Montreal. Today, MNP has 26 offices, 168 partners and over 1,300 team members across the province. Regional Managing Partner for the South of Quebec region, Eric Grondin, FCPA, said this first merger in Valleyfield reflects MNP’s continued commitment to the growth of MNP in the regions:

“We are thrilled to welcome the LD CPA inc. team to our Firm. We have been looking for a firm in the Valleyfied area, which has a thriving business community, further building on our ability to best support our combined client bases and the Montérégie marketplace. Furthermore, the firm’s depth of knowledge of the agriculture sector, which is a rapidly growing practice at MNP in Québec, makes this merger a natural fit.”

Founded in 1958, MNP has grown to more than 125 locations across Canada and delivers a wide range of services and specialized expertise in every sector and area of business. While becoming the largest of the mid-market focused firms in Canada, MNP has continued to maintain its Canadian roots, helping Canadian businesses both at home and abroad.

"We have grown quickly but we are absolutely committed to maintaining our culture and so have always been very strategic about who we invite to join our team," added Jeremy Cole, FCPA, FCA, CBV, MNP's Executive Vice President for the GTA and Quebec. "We are known across the communities we work with as being one of Canada's most-trusted professional services firms, so we are excited to welcome a very well-respected practice in LD CPA inc. into the MNP family. Our cultures and values are well-aligned, and we share the same entrepreneurial, trusted approach to doing business."

LD CPA inc. Partner, Karl Savary, CPA Auditor, M. Fisc., says one of his deciding factors to join MNP was the culture.

“Although MNP is a large national firm, it’s best known across Canada for being local in focus and having a small-firm culture and commitment to supporting the communities that its teams live and work in. That was very important to us.” added Savary. “By joining MNP we can add more integrated national resources, more specialized services, and a range of experiences; all of which will provide our clients and our team with even greater value in the future.”

The LD CPA inc. team will remain in their current offices, which will be MNP’s first location in Valleyfield. The team will work MNP’s existing teams across Quebec to enjoy access to greater resources and services to help businesses in their community.
