Murtaza is a member of MNP’s Assurance and Accounting team and Public Companies Quality Control group in Toronto. Specializing in International Financial Reporting Standards services, Murtaza provides assurance reviews and professional standards assistance to clients through accounting and assurance technical support and quality control reviews. He works collaboratively with other accounting professionals and with clients in the cannabis, mining, technology, telecommunications and investment sectors.

Murtaza is proactive and results-oriented, with in-depth experience in audit, assurance, finance and accounting. He offers both technical and practical support on consultation requests, financial statements, assurance files and the coordination of Canadian Public Accountability Board and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board inspections. His well-rounded experience allows him to liaise with regulators and respond to standard-setting bodies, including through invitations to comment, roundtable sessions, discussion groups and task forces that provide informed feedback on proposed changes and additions to standards affecting both the profession and business. Murtaza serves as a practice inspector for the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Ontario.

Prior to joining MNP, Murtaza worked at two of the Big Four firms, in Canada and internationally.

Murtaza earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) from the University of Bombay in 1992. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 2009. He also maintains designations as a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA 2008) in Colorado and an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA 1995) in India.
