Partner

Sergei is a Partner with MNP’s International Tax Services group in Montréal. Analytical, curious, and collaborative, he designs tailored tax planning strategies in coordination with his clients’ advisors, using a multidisciplinary approach. He easily analyzes complex financial data, carefully assesses tax risks, and optimizes strategies according to each client’s unique circumstances. Sergei, who clearly explains complex concepts, is an attentive listener, allowing him to understand each client’s needs and address their concerns as they navigate cross-border tax challenges.

Sergei focuses on delivering cross-border tax and estate planning for individuals, particularly between Canada and the United States. He advises professionals, business owners, and high net worth individuals in both countries on estate planning, trusts, and estate administration; as well as on the purchase, ownership, and sale of real estate in Canada and the United States. He also helps clients with the cross-border tax complexities of being a dual Canadian and United States citizen, emigration from Canada to the United States, United States expatriation, and investment in both countries.

Before joining MNP, Sergei worked as a lawyer at a boutique law and notary firm based in Canada and Florida, where he deepened his passion for cross-border tax and estate planning.

Bilingual in French and English, Sergei graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Master of Laws in international law (LLM), and a Juris Doctor (JD — common law). He is a member of the Québec Bar (2015) and the Association for Tax and Financial Planning (Association de planification fiscale et financière).

Sergei has completed CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program and has co-authored a technical publication in a leading trust and estate journal.
