This transaction resulted in a liquidity event and successful exit by SaskWorks Venture Fund and Apex II Investment Fund. It allows the shareholders of Prairie Soil Services Ltd. (Prairie Soil) to transition ownership of the business, while ensuring its customers continue to receive high-quality products and services.
Established in 1983, Prairie Soil has built a strong reputation in agricultural retail. Prairie Soil serves high-volume farm customers and offers fully integrated soil services with a focus on the supply, delivery, and application of NH3 and alternative fertilizers. Prairie Soil is based out of Norquay, Saskatchewan and has five locations across Eastern Saskatchewan.
ProSoils Inc., founded by the Prosko and McDermid families, is a full-service agriculture retailer, which also specializes in the delivery and application of NH3 and dry and liquid crop nutrients. ProSoils Inc. currently has three agricultural retail locations and three NH3 delivery sites. The acquisition of Prairie Soil will allow ProSoils Inc. to increase its market share and expand its local footprint, while increasing operational and logistical efficiencies.
