What is your role at MNP?

My role is Senior Manager, Tax Services at MNP. In this role, I work closely with small and mid-sized businesses in a variety of industries, helping them make sense of and minimize their taxes.

What led you to Tax Services?

I enjoy problem solving and tax is a field that is constantly changing. This allows me to keep my mind engaged, while maintaining a distinct focus on my client’s objectives.

What advice would you give business owners who are starting out?

Develop a relationship with an accountant and a lawyer from the start to ensure you have a strong team of professionals who have your back. Accountants and lawyers are meant to be trusted advisors and will help you navigate through the beginnings of your business.

How would you characterize your approach to helping clients?

My client’s can expect a professional approach where we work together to accomplish their objectives. Through this collaborative approach, I learn about and understand my client’s needs. My experience with a broad range of tax considerations enables me to be proactive in solving any issues before they arise.

How do you stay active in the community?

I give tax and accounting specific presentations to community groups – namely Community Futures Thompson Okanagan and Kamloops Innovation Center. I also volunteer on the Board of Directors with the Kamloops Child Development Centre, a not-for-profit organization.

What might someone not know about you outside of work?

Outside of work I spend the majority of time with my family, which consists of my one-year-old daughter, wife and our dog. We do our best to get outside and see all that Kamloops has to offer.
