Amanda Salvatori is passionate about listening to people’s stories. As leader of Ontario’s Valuation team, she enjoys hearing clients’ visions for their business and offering insights on its value. Learn how she has used that passion for storytelling during the pandemic – and what surprised her.

Q: What is your role within MNP?

I’m a partner and the Ontario leader of the Valuation and Litigation Support practice. My role is to inspire my team and build connections with people.

Q: Why did you choose to specialize in Valuations?

I was fortunate to work for a firm with multiple service lines, similar to MNP. As a summer student, I spent a short time working with individuals from the financial advisory practice. I enjoyed the experience and knew that, once I obtained my CPA designation, I wanted to explore a career in financial advisory. Ultimately, the opportunity to listen to people discuss their vision for their business and in turn provide them with insights regarding the value of their business, appealed to me the most.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not in the office?

My passion for listening to people’s stories extends beyond the office. I really enjoy listening to podcasts and am most interested in founder stories as well as topics related to health and wellness. Fitness has always been part of my regular routine but, due to the pandemic, I’ve been experimenting with various fitness apps and really enjoying the variety! I am also using the extra time at home to learn a new language which I’m looking forward to practicing when we can travel again.

Q: What’s one thing that pleasantly surprised you amid the pandemic with your clients/work?

One thing that pleasantly surprised me amid the pandemic is people’s creativity! People enjoy a sense of community and they have found creative ways to continue to socialize. Events that would have taken place in person are now taking place virtually with perhaps a tangible component, such as food delivery, which supports the local economy. In addition, calls that would have taken place over the phone are now being held by video call which, in some cases, has led to an increase in face to face client interaction.
