John Nygren , CPA, CA

Regional Tax Leader

John is MNP’s Regional Tax Leader in Calgary. With nearly two decades of public practice experience, John has worked in many tax areas, including trusts and estates, partnerships and joint ventures for public and private companies as well as personal taxes. He specializes in Canadian corporate tax, working closely with large private companies and high-net-worth individuals.

John brings a diverse skill set to his role, acquired through helping local and foreign-based entities address their business and tax issues. John serves clients in a wide variety of industries, including oil and gas, real estate and construction, technology, manufacturing and professional services.

In addition to domestic tax planning and compliance, John is well versed on in-bound compliance for foreign companies and individuals, including treaty-based returns, branch tax and withholding tax issues.

John earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) in entrepreneurial management from Royal Roads University in 2001. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA). John has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth Tax Course.
