Shauna McGarvey

Shauna is a member of MNP’s Indigenous Services team in Calgary. With close to two decades of experience working closely with Indigenous communities and public sector organizations, Shauna develops innovative research tools and programs responsive to client needs to help Indigenous clients communicate their concerns and participate in the regulatory process. She conducts Indigenous and stakeholder engagement for First Nation and Métis governments, and for public sector, not-for-profit, and industry clients seeking consultation advice and planning, program review, and project management on the Duty to Consult / regulatory process.

Shauna has worked with Indigenous groups to tell their stories, through curriculum development, interpretive displays, heritage planning, and multimedia. Before joining MNP she worked for the Indigenous Consultation Unit for Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, and taught courses at the University of Calgary’s Department of Anthropology.

Shauna graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts (BA), First Class Honours in anthropology in 1995 and a Master of Arts (MA) in anthropology in 2002. She conducted doctoral research with Stoney Nakoda First Nation and Banff National Park on Indigenous conservation for a PhD at McMaster University.
