Seaboard Special Crops has acquired Blue Hills Processors. MNP Corporate Finance Inc. acted as exclusive financial advisor to Blue Hills Processors in structuring and negotiating this transaction

Transaction Brief

This transaction has allowed the shareholder group of Blue Hills Processors (2003) Ltd. ("BHPL") to divest of 100% of their holdings while ensuring the continued operations of the business. The sale of BHPL highlights the continued consolidation in the industry.

BHPL was a pulse and special crops processing facility, located in Avonlee, Saskatchewan. BHPL helped meet the growing food consumption demands of various worldwide markets via international exporters for their product. Prior to the transaction, BHPL was widely held by a large shareholder group made up of local community members, stakeholders and local producers.

Seaboard Corporation ("Seaboard") is a global agribusiness company in grain and protein-based foods with an integrated model. Milling and processing facilities are located throughout North America, South America, the Caribbean and Africa and work directly with several affiliated commodity trading offices in strategic locations. Vertical integration of procurement, transportation and processing functions provides Seaboard with competitive advantages. Seaboard is uniquely qualified to assess and select the best quality and most consistent grain and protein meal suppliers worldwide.

With this acquisition, Seaboard expands their portfolio of crop processing plants in Saskatchewan and will realize significant synergies integrating BHPL into their network of facilities.
