Earl MacLeod CPA, CA

Partner, Regional Tax Leader

Earl MacLeod, CPA, CA, is a Partner and Regional Leader of MNP’s Tax Services group for Atlantic Canada. Earl draws on more than 20 years of experience to deliver tax advice and solutions to owner-managed businesses in a wide range of industries, with the goal of helping them manage their operations while minimizing tax liabilities.

Earl’s services include helping with planning and compliance matters related to corporate, personal and trust income tax returns as well as assisting with U.S. tax compliance. He helps individuals and corporations with international tax advice on how to most effectively manage cross-border tax issues and assists in negotiations with the Canada Revenue Agency on various audit issues. Earl’s clients rely on him to understand the income tax implications of selling or acquiring businesses, using the capital gains exemption and using holding companies and family trusts.

After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University in 1995, Earl became a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in 1998. He has completed CPA Canada’s In-depth Taxation Course. Earl is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Greater Burnside Business Association and has sat on several boards, including the Family Business Association Atlantic and Family Enterprise Xchange. He has spoken on tax-related issues and is an instructor for CPA Nova Scotia.
